When Architect Joe Snell approached enzie with his vision the team at enzie were motived to exceed expectations. That vision was to create an atrium for a Helical staircase which would double as an stage for his multiple ARIA award winning client Guy Sebastian to entertain family and friends.
As described in Bell Magazine, guests walk in the front door and the space is revealed wondrously, with soaring voids and spans soaking up expansive ocean views and, of course, that amphitheatre lies directly before you. “The piano is the first thing you see. It’s a natural stage, especially when the doors are open,” says Joe. Lofty walls of horizontal ribbed concrete soften the void’s verticality, while the spiral stairs complement the curves of the grand piano.
The stairs are used to link the sprawling downstairs living and entertainment spaces to the private bedrooms and recording studio on level 1 up to the ‘cigar room’, an intimate club-like space on the uppermost level.
