Project Details:
The Triangle House, situated in Toorak, is a contemporary residence tailored for a young family of five. Numerous site constraints significantly influenced the design and budget of the new structure, including a confined 200sqm triangular boundary The architectural concept takes shape as an elevated sinuous element, resembling a timber-clad boat on a rocky breakwater. The upper floor’s corner prow extends into the open street, anchored by the dark recessive mass of the ground floor, forming negative space. The interior is envisioned as a family living container, vertically layering shared spaces and retreat areas.
On the ground floor, a compact 75sqm footprint is compensated by volume, featuring a generous family zone with timber-lined ceilings and extensive glazing. A Satin Black 2m diameter Z tread series spiral staircase connects the public ground floor and private upper floor zones. The closed nature of the Z Tread matched with the Enclose balustrade provide the perfect private transition experience from the public to the private space of the upper level which houses the bedrooms of the residence.
