This is our most popular range with more than 10,000 units being installed since 1974. It’s clean sculptured lines have made it a classic.
The open lightweight tread gives the stair a high transparency factor and an enduring 1960’s inspired design which is still popular today.
The distinctive feature of this stair is the tread which is affectionately referred to as the “flipper tread”. This tread was designed by Bryan Mackenzie in 1974 and has been a proven success ever since. The tread tapers from 133 mm high at the column end of the tread out to almost nothing where it meets the balustrade. The effect is a very “lightweight” look with the treads vanishing. This tapered box tread is very strong, lightweight and noise absorbing.

Surface Treatment
A wide range of decorator colours meets almost every decorating situation … blend the stair in a monochromatic scheme, dramatically contrast with bold colours or elegantly complement with stainless steel. To ensure durability the steel components are powder-coated with polyester paint and oven baked in the factory. For more information about the finishing options available click here.
Balustrade Options
The classic range of spiral staircases has two balustrade options. The H model has 3 balusters per tread spaced at up to 180mm. This spacing complies with the BCA as attested by our Certificate of Accreditation issued by the Building Control Commission in Victoria. The H-S model has an extra baluster per tread ensuring that the gaps are less than 125mm .A number of certifiers in states other than Victoria insist on this option vein chosen
Corrosive Environments
Should your installation be in a highly corrosive coast environment we would recommend having your stair made from powder-coated Aluminium or polished 316 Stainless Steel. Alternatively, a more cost effective solution would be to select a stair from the Universal Series and having a natural Hot Dip Galvanized finish . COMMERCIAL SPIRAL STAIRCASES
An enzie® spiral staircase can be used in commercial applications however the building code call for different geometry to that used in residential applications. You can see enzie® spiral staircases installed in Bistro Two Dozen in Melbourne, The Olsen Hotel, The High Court and various other applications. The classic range of spiral staircases is available with two balustrade options, the H and the H-S balustrades. The design of both balustrade is very similar, the difference is in the spacing of the balusters (the steel uprights). The H model has 3 balusters per tread spaced at up to 180mm. This spacing is larger than what you will find on most stairs. This spacing complies with the BCA as outlined by our Certificate of Accreditation which is issues by the Building Control Commission. The H-S model has one extra baluster per tread, bringing the gaps to under 125 mm. This spacing complies with the Deem to Satisfy component of the BCA and is required in NSW and QLD.
