A stone’s throw away from the Caulfield’s hallowed turf, Kazoo House is named after the racehorse whose winnings helped fund its original construction. The existing Federation house contained the working stable for Kazoo, and this project is a 250m2 alteration and addition to accommodate a new family of four. The steel skin, which can be seen from the street, references the materials of the nearby watchtowers of the racecourse, while contrasting against the rich existing brickwork. Two courtyards have been created to allow various outdoor activities to be enjoyed and a viewing platform to the racecourse has also been subtly incorporated.
